Casio Making YouTube Optimized Cameras
By Karl Peschel on Jul 21, 2007 in Announcement, PointAndShoot
Because you just can’t wait to upload your latest vid clip to YouTube, Casio comes to the rescue. They’ve partnered with Google (who owns YouTube now) and provide a special video mode on some of their new digital cameras.
There is also special video software that connects directly to YouTube, converts the file and uploads it. Kudos to Casio too since they have an exclusive deal with Google that holds through the end of the year.
The two new models are the Casio EX-S880 and the EX-Z77 and these should sell around $300 and $230 respectively. The YouTube video mode shoots at 640×480 and 30 frames per second. Good enough quality for capturing smooth motion.
Of course, these are great digital cameras with all the bells and whistles. With 7 or 8 MP, lots of Scene Modes, 3x optical zooms, and nice thin and compact body styles typical of Casio digital cameras. They’ve just “upped the ante” in the digital world and will capture part of the younger market with this YouTube functionality.
Expect to see these shipping in August in the US and later in the rest of the world.
