Sony Recall on the DSC-T5

I gotta say, I’m really bummed to hear about this Sony recall. Back in my camera selling days I loved this little Cybershot! To all those people in the Denver area who I sold one of these to, I’m sorry to give you this news.

Due to the possibility of the camera case warping and exposing a sharp edge that can cut your hand, Sony is recalling 350,000 Cybershot DSC-T5 digital cameras. The company will replace the bottom casing, where the problem occurs, at no cost.

These DSC-T5 cameras were sold in the United States, Europe, China, and Japan. Don’t know why it took so long for this to come out since Sony customers reported some issues shortly after the camera came out in late 2005.

Check the serial numbers on your camera to see if it’s one of the “bad” ones. It’s only the cameras with serial numbers between 3500001 and 3574100.

U.S. customers can go to Sony’s support Web site at http://esupport.sony.com for more information or call Sony support at 877-573-7669.
