Printing Digital Images at Home

Yesterday the Newsletter subscribers got a nice little article about successful printing at home. Though this is a lengthy subject and could be discussed ad nauseum for weeks, I tried to put across some of the more important points. Watch for future blog posts on the subject.
Briefly, those would be:
Use Good Software – The free stuff that comes with your digital camera or printer will only take you so far. Eventually, you’ll step up to Photoshop Elements 5 or something else.
Feed Your Printer Lots of Pixels – My mantra is “Go Big or Go Home” and simply means you should always shoot at the highest resolution and quality settings.
Crop to Your Print Size – You’ve got a 50-50 chance that your digital image will perfectly fit a standard print size like 4×6 or 8×10. Crop the way YOU want it so no one loses their head.
Sharpen Your Photos Slightly – Every digital file deserves a bit of USM sharpening. A GREAT tutorial can be found in the Digital Darkroom section at The Lights Right Studio.
Use the Manufacturer’s Paper – You’ll get the best color and print life this way. There are other paper manufacturers I recommend in the Newsletter. (Don’t expect great results from cheap paper. Buy quality products that are designed to work with your printer model.)
To get your hands on the Successful Home Printing newsletter you just have to sign up at the TeachMeToShoot website. Your bonus mini-report, Top 10 Tips for Better Digital Pictures, will be delivered immediately and you’ll get access to all the newsletters. So what are ya waitin’ for ?
