A Digital Camera With 3200 MP

Yeah, you read that right. 3 thousand, 2 hundred megapixels. Unfortunately, it’s going to be used in a telescope instead of a DSLR.
A $30 million+ project financed by the likes of Bill Gates, Charles Simonyi, Google, and Columbia University will use this monster digital capture device. It’s being built on the top of a mountain in Chile and won’t be operational until 2014 or so.
This telescope will be transferring an estimated 30 Terabytes of data nightly and it will be made available via the Web. You’ve got 6 years to make sure you have high speed Internet access. Dial up just won’t cut it.
